Productivity is a popular topic among our Catalyst Management team members. We want to make the most of the 24 hours we have in each day. One target of this interest recently has been commuting. For so many professionals, daily travel is unpleasant and unproductive. Fortunately, there are a few ways to get a lot more out of a commute.
It may come as a surprise that a longer commute can actually be less stressful than a short one. Most people rush to get through their morning routines and travel as quickly as possible. However, taking your time may be a better idea. Rushing causes stress and also has a major productivity cost during the rest of the day. Try starting earlier and beginning your day relaxed and ahead of schedule.
Another possible way to improve commuting is to do something rewarding. For example, many Catalyst Management brand ambassadors learn while traveling. Consider picking up a book to read or listening to an audiobook or podcast. Investing into your professional development is not only very productive but also will make the commute much more enjoyable.
You may want to try tackling some work while traveling too. You could plan your to-do list for the day. Alternatively, you could respond to a few emails. Getting some basic tasks done right away will get your day off to the right start.
These strategies will improve your commute.
