Recruitment is an important responsibility of the Catalyst Management leadership team. So, we spend a lot of time reflecting on our processes. One aspect that quickly became abundantly clear is the importance of questions asked by the candidate. Coming to the interview curious about a few elements of the position will make any applicant more memorable:
• Strategic Contribution: If you are applying to a job, ask the hiring manager how the role fits into the strategic picture for the organization. Understand how the work you will be doing contributes to the success and growth of the company. Every manager wants people who care about their contributions.
• Meeting Others: Our Catalyst Management team culture is very important. So, candidates who express interest in meeting other brand ambassadors will always stick out to us. The next time you interview, try to get to know some of the people in the office.
• Best Aspects: Ask the hiring manager what he or she likes most about the company’s line of business. You will get a good sense of the work. If he or she likes it, this question will also set a positive tone for the rest of the interview.
• Concerns on Qualifications: Consider asking directly what concerns the interviewer has about you. Many people will enjoy the directness. Additionally, you will be able to address those concerns head-on.
Ask these questions during your next interview.
